Pretoria, 22 January 2014. The Heritage Foundation’s Research Trust has recently announced that it is awaiting applications from worthy researchers for funding. In order to allow more persons the opportunity to apply for research funds, the closing date for handing in applications is 15 April 2014.

The Heritage Foundation is a non-profit company and it founded the Research Trust in 2005 with the aim of “…to initiate, execute, fund and co-ordinate, without profit and in conjunction with other concerned institutions, research concerning the Afrikaner and Afrikaans related matters, in the broadest sense of the word as well as the broader South African context, in order to ensure that the funds obtained for this purpose be managed and utilized optimally.”

Funds for advanced studies concerning the Afrikaner and Afrikaans related subjects are available but applications of the following nature will not be considered for funding, namely, fiction, family history (genealogy as a science will be considered), attending congresses, university registration fees and capital projects.

The factors that will be considered for funding should adhere to strict academic requirements. The results of the research do not necessarily have to be published in Afrikaans but the application must be done in Afrikaans on the prescribed form.

Persons who would like to apply for funding may obtain the necessary forms by contacting Mrs Estelle Pretorius on 012 325 7885 or at Only applications received before or on 15 April 2014 will be considered for possible funding. Any queries in this regard may also be directed to Mrs Pretorius.
