Cecilia Kruger and Riana Mulder of the HF visited Phalaborwa this month to explore the possible establishment of a Heritage Conservation Awareness committee in that area. The tour included a visit to the Phalaborwa mine, mine museum and Leydsdorp, as well as meeting the interesting people of Mica and the Mashishimale community. Our host, Marilda Wiegand from Sunbird Tourism Development, went to great lengths to show us the area. Marilda is in the process of forming the Phalaborwa committee and plans on launching a few projects early in 2018.

Contact Riana Mulder at museum@es.org.za for more information on the Heritage Conservation Awareness Project.
