The De la Rey bust (originally erected in front of the Burger Centre in Delareyville) has been vandalized recently. It has been requested that the Heritage Foundation move the base and bust to rest on top of the Burger grave, where access is more difficult. This project has been undertaken in two steps: the granite base was moved in 2014 and the bust in February this year. Using NASA technology, it has been newly fastened to the granite on top of the grave.
It once again proudly stands on high in commemoration to the contributions made to freedom by General De la Rey. A descriptive granite panel on the historical events of the previous century in Afrikaans, English and SeTswana has also been erected.
