We received several donations in February, including unique photographs taken at Kerkenberg during a Day of the Vow celebration in the 1980s, as well as the arrival of the Johanna van der Merwe wagon during the 1938 Great Trek Centenary in Northcliff, Johannesburg. We also received the private collection of the sculptor, Alfonso Smuts. This collection includes correspondence and other documents related to his commissions, such as Die Kaalvoetvrou, Moedige Boerestryder and Casparus de Coligny. The collection is currently being accessioned and will be available to researchers soon.
The Daniel Hugo private collection is also housed at the HF archive – this is a valuable resource for those interested in South African literature.
