On Saturday 24 February, a group of HF Facebook Friends visited the beautiful Melrose House in Pretoria. Our day visits are very popular and was launched last year with a visit to two Anglo-Boer War forts in Pretoria. Future events will take place on a quarterly basis – visit our Facebook page (‘Die Erfenisstigting’)for more information.
The day visits form part of the Heritage Awareness Campaign (HCA), which is rapidly expanding. We are in the process of negotiating for a seventh committee. Local committees are currently active in Limpopo, Gauteng, North West and the Free State. We plan on adding committees in the Northern and Eastern Cape as well as KwaZulu-Natal later this year. Each committee is encouraged to take responsibility for documenting and preserving heritage sites in their areas – and it seems that people are more than willing to do their part in preserving heritage for future generations!
Anyone interested in joining the HCA network can contact Riana Mulder at firstname.lastname@example.org.
